The National Wildflower Centre is a seasonal eco-visitor attraction that showcases natural wildflower heritage and inspire visitors to create new wildflower landscapes wherever they live.
Located in Knowsley, about 5 miles (8 km) from Liverpool city centre, National Wildflower Centre‘s seasonal nature displays and creative community projects raise awareness about the importance of wildflowers, and encourage people to learn about creative conservation.
All the money raised at the Centre is put back into our creative conservation founding charity Landlife.
National Wildflower Centre is a mix of refurbished old buildings and new architecture that look back to the Centre’s conservation past – and project positive action for now and into the future.
The Centre has a lovely Cornflower Cafe, Shop and Conference venue too, amongst historical courtyards and a former walled garden space with seasonal displays.
The Centre is accessible for wheelchairs and is mainly on one (ground) level. A wheelchair and electric buggy are available for visitors.
Visitors are very welcome to bring a carer to assist them FREE – please ask when you arrive or call or email in advance to help them make the best of your visit.
The National Wildflower Centre is a charitable visitor attraction, educational facility and conference and function venue, founded by environmental charity – Landlife.
The visitor attraction opened to the public in 2001, with funding from the Millennium Commission, and is set in the 35 acre Victorian Court Hey Park, approximately 5 miles from Liverpool city centre.
The Centre exists to promote the creation of new wildflower habitats for people to enjoy and where wildlife can flourish and develop. It is a tranquil, family-friendly venue to visit and an urban haven where you will be inspired by nature.
The aim of the Centre is to raise awareness about the importance of wildflowers to our environment and to educate the public in all matters concerning the creation and management of new wildflower habitats.
By promoting new places for wildflowers to develop and thrive, the Centre is playing a part to preserve valuable native species and providing places where birds, insects and other wildlife can flourish too.
All of the money raised at the Centre is put back into our charitable work to preserve our native wildflower species, so by visiting you can be sure you are making a contribution to this essential and valuable work.
NWC Visitor Centre Opening hours:
1st April to 30th September
Visitor Centre :- Open 7 days a week, 10am to 5pm (Last entry to display gardens 4pm)
Cornflower Cafe:- Open 7 days a week, 9.30am to 5pm
Conference Facilities available for hire 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm
Out of Season :- 1st October to 31st March
Visitor Centre :- Closed
Cornflower Cafe :- Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm
Conference Facilities available for hire Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
