The Albert Dock Liverpool is situated on the banks of the River Mersey. The attraction is part of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage site.
The dock opened in 1846, designed by Jesse Hartley, and remained a fully working dock until 1972. It later reopened as a visitor attraction in 1988 after a huge restoration programme by HRH Prince Charles. It remains the UK’s largest group of Grade I listed buildings.
The Albert Dock is home to award winning visitor attractions such as the Beatles Story, International Slavery Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool. There is a wide array of cafés, bars and restaurants including Circo, Docklands Fish & Chips, Gusto, PanAm, and What’s Cooking? You can also stay at the Albert Dock as there are two on-site hotels; Holiday Inn Express and Premier Inn.
Visitors have the chance to journey around the Dock and surrounding areas, learning about the culture and heritage. During the 90 minute walk you can learn about some of Liverpool’s best museums and galleries, discover why Liverpool became a UNESCO World Heritage city and find out more about the emblems of Liverpool.
