Croxteth Hall in West Derby, Liverpool, is the previous country estate and ancestral home of the Molyneux family, the Earls of Sefton. After the death of the 7th and last Earl in 1972, the estate passed to Liverpool City Council, which now control the remainder of the estate, after the sale of approximately half of the grounds. The remaining grounds, Croxteth Park, was formerly a hunting chase of the Molyneux family and are now open to the public. The hall is recorded in the National Heritage List for England picked as a Grade II* listed building.
Croxteth Hall Country Park is among the “finest working country estates in the North West (England). In the estate, visitors will find five(5) main attractions.It includes the Historic Hall, Croxteth Home Farm, the Victorian Walled Garden where visitors can explore Liverpool’s historic botanical collection. 500 acres country park and nature reserve and also one of Liverpool’s oldest public buildings, West Derby Courthouse. The courthouse dates from the Elizabeth I reign while for youngsters there is an adventure playground, minature railway and an orienteering trail.
Steeped to history, Croxteth Hall makes the ideal setting for concerts, exhibitions weddings and conferences and offers a huge range of stimulating learning experiences for pupils of all ages. Croxteth Hall is a well known location for filming and the Liverpool Film Office is on hand to help.
